This year a group of our final year and masters design students, collaborated with Sony to tackle technology obsolescence in order to challenge our current “throw-away” society and offer a more sustainable future.
The exploration focused around the promise of cloud computing to fuel development of adaptive technology to power emotionally durable, lasting products. The family of products created to embody the realisation of this exploration adapts and develop to suit all ages, growing with you to satisfy changing needs and abilities, whilst maintaining a consistent user interface in order to create a deeper emotional connection between device and user. The user defines the level of technology they want, novice to pro, and upgrades are then managed over the cloud to adapt the user interface.
