Volkswagen Up!

jeongeun 2012. 11. 21. 08:05

The Volkswagen Up! is a three door compact car, a five door version will be arriving late 2012, it is the latest car to be driven straight at the customer that wants a small car that turns heads, a trick the delightful Fiat 500 achieves with it’s retro cool design. The Up! on the other hand is a car that manages to look cheeky on the outside and cutting edge on the inside, this is a car where nothing is left to chance, it is engineered to near perfection in every aspect and should you choose the Up! you will not be disappointed, its just we love little Italian cars a bit more.

The Up! is a available in three variants, the Take Up!, the Move Up! and the High Up!, probably the most annoying names in automotive history, our advice when it comes to small cars is the best value is to be achieved in the entry level trim so it’s good when they are well stocked, The Take Up! sadly is not, it has manual windows, no rev counter, no air conditioning, no alloy wheels and the much hyped dash mounted media system is a £350 extra, it does come with daytime running lights, front and rear headrests, airbags and a CD/Radio. The Move Up! is much better equipped with air conditioning, body-coloured door mirrors, central locking, driver’s seat height adjustment, split folding rear seat with a variable load floor, the High up! adds 15″ alloy wheels, leather height adjustable steering wheel, front fog lights and the excellent Maps and more touch-screen navigation/radio device with integrated voice control.

The Up! is powered by a one litre three cylinder petrol engine that comes with either 60 or 75 brake horse power (High Up! only) there is also a bluemotion version available on the Move Up! that boosts the fuel consumption to 68.9 miles per gallon from the standard 62.8 mpg, the more powerful version can still achieve 60 mpg. Top speed is 100 miles per hour or 106 for the larger engine and 0-62 miles per hour takes 14.4 seconds and 13.2 respectively.

The Volkswagen Up! if better equipped in the entry level Take Up! would offer fantastic value as it is a great car with more room that you can imagine, it’s great to drive and look at but you have to go to the Move Up! to receive the comforts that should be standard, the Kia Picanto is still a good looking car and such better value. No automatic Up! is available.
